Different shots of our area from a disatnce

On this section of the website we will concentrate on photographs of our district , mostly from a distance and from various directions. They will all be from different eras spanning back over 100 years.

We will start with common one from the gap looking towards Edwardsville and Treharris

The next ones feature shots from Quakers yard towards Treharris

Aerial photographs are more common these days we will start with a couple of older ones

This one has Trelewis on the left with the colliery in the middle and Treharris on the left railways in the middle.

This one above shows the centre of Treharris with football field to the left , Twynygarreg hill and Bargoed house recently demolished so I would guess 1970’s. and a more modern one below of Cilhaul 2020’s

We now move on to the most common of landscape photographs , these were all taken from Trelewis looking towards Treharris, not surprising when you realise only the narrow Taf Bargoed river separates them.

We will now see some views taken from the top of Treharris looking down starting with an old one looking down at the railway behind the Danygraig club

Some images , this time looking from Treharris towards Trelewis

Winter time looking towards the colliery

Colliery gone views of clear up towards Trelewis

Thornwood from a distance many years ago

The next set are mainly from the Mill road area or pandy fields looking across at Treharris

Looking across now directly at the centre of Treharris firstly the football pitch which is now used by the junior players

Below is an old one Webster Street school below the Reservoir house

Two quite recent ones looking over to the Library car park
