Pictured below are the three award winning tailors (father and two sons)that resided at Wingfield Terrace in Quakers yard for many years…on the left of the picture is Tim Evans (who still lived at the family home until his death in the late 50’s)

A massive thank you to Tony Evans for the use of the following photographs. He has done a fantastic job in renovating the former bakehouse behind Bridge stores into a luxurious family home…some of the pictures below show the bakehouse before it was converted into the private residence.

Above we see a photograph of Quakers Yard in 1976, the house opposite the Quakers Inn was the old Bridge House (now demolished) Behind that you can see that they have just finished demolishing the houses in Mill road.

On the bottom right of the picture above you can see the old Bakery behind Bridge stores…

The next set of photographs come courtesy of Lee Dare who was kindly donated them by the family of the late John Owens, formally of No 3 Danytwyn Quakers Yard , he is in the photo below almost outside the Glan, with the houses behind long since demolished with Joff and Iris. All the photographs we believe were taken in 1955.Not all the photos are of Quakers yard but all are close by and I want to keep John’s collection in one place.

This picture comes from the Treharris Library collection, it shows the village shop and old Bakery. Taken from the Darren in 1950

Above we see a view from Pentwyn of Quakers Yard and Edwardsville in the distance…In the centre of this picture, we can clearly see Goitre coed road and Fairview Terrace. Look behind these streets and the empty fields are where Fir tree drive,Westwood Drive and Hilltop close were built. Below is a modern photo of the same place
